Weekly reminiscence sessions encourage clients to meet together & help to increase sociability & levels of communication. Interaction between clients offer stimulation as well as extending further understanding of each individuals circumstances.
Programmes of events include:
- Early childhood & schooling
- The seasons
- Holidays
- Pastimes, sport & hobbies
- Important events in peoples lives
- Housekeeping & shopping
- Work & occupations
- T.V. radio & entertainment
A variety of triggers are used to help promote recollection & memories, these include music & sounds, touch, taste & smell. Clients are also able to handle artefact’s & look at newspapers.
Frequent musical activities are arranged including: movement to music, old time music hall sessions.
Minibus & coach outings are organised, often with the other homes. These are to places of local history, carols at a local church, Christmas lights or down to the beach.
We also try to organise fund raising events, coffee mornings, selling bric a brac, raffles. The money raised goes towards activities within the home.
On a Tuesday Val comes in & opens a Lyon’s Tea House, dainty sandwiches, cakes & pastries are served in our best bone china . Ralph entertains on his electric piano, old songs & favourites.

Party Time
A Newsletter is written periodically, covering various issues relating to all the three Homes, these are posted on the website or sent out to relatives & friends. They have an up to date list of activities arranged for the Home.
